Amato Re-elected First Vice Chairman; Burpee Elected Member at Large

National Board members re-elected Joel T. Amato as first vice chairman and John Burpee as member at large at the 79th General Meeting in San Antonio, Texas.
Mr. Amato, chief boiler inspector for the state of Minnesota, has served as chief inspector since 1999, when he was elected to the National Board. Before joining the state, he worked for Stroh’s Brewery as power plant operator. He also served as boiler inspector with Kemper Inspection and Hartford Steam Boiler Company.
A US Navy veteran, he was elected to the Board of Trustees in 2006 as member at large. He holds National Board Commission No. 11907 with “A” and “B” endorsements.
Replacing Daniel Price as member at large is John Burpee, chief boiler, elevator and tramway inspector for the state of Maine.
Mr. Burpee was graduated from the Maine Maritime Academy in 1986 with a bachelor’s degree in marine engineering. From 1986 to 1993 he served as an officer in the US Navy. In his position as surface warfare engineer, he was assigned to commands based in Norfolk, Virginia. In addition he served as a naval ROTC instructor at the Maine Maritime Academy and the University of Maine. Before joining the state of Maine in 1999, he was employed by Hartford Steam Boiler as engineering inspector.
Mr. Burpee holds National Board Commission No. 11667 with “A” endorsement.
