The National Board is saddened to learn of the August 25 passing of former Indiana Chief Inspector Anthony “Bud” Meiring. Mr. Meiring was 81.

Meiring served as Indiana’s chief inspector from 1985 to 2002.

The Indiana native began his career in the US Navy, serving for 14 years, including multiple tours of duty in Vietnam.

Meiring spent several years as a boiler and machinery inspector for The Hartford Steam Boiler Inspection and Insurance Company and the Indiana Insurance Company, before joining the state of Indiana in 1979. That same year, Meiring was instrumental in developing a boiler inspector training program at the Indiana Vocational Technical College.
