Porcella Announces Retirement

John Porcella announced his retirement Oct. 4 as chief boiler inspector for the state of West Virginia.

Mr. Porcella had been a National Board member since 2009. Before joining the state of West Virginia in 2008, he was a boiler service technician for Combustion Equipment Company in Gibsiona, Pennsylvania.

Clark Named to Board of Trustees

Tom Clark, chief boiler inspector for the state of Oregon, was elected to the NBBI Board of Trustees on Oct. 3 during the Members’ Meeting.

Mr. Clark was elected as a member at large and will serve the remaining seven months of the term of Donnie LeSage, who retired.

Mr. Clark, who has been a National Board member since 2019, also is the chair of the Committee on Qualifications for Inspection.

Sullivan Earns Service Award

David Sullivan, chief boiler inspector for the state of Arkansas, received his five-year service award Oct. 3 during the Members’ Meeting.

In February 2006, Mr. Sullivan joined the Arkansas Department of Labor/Boiler Inspection Division as a boiler inspector, eventually becoming chief inspector in 2018.

Members, Staff Honored

During the Members Meeting on Oct. 3, NBBI members and staff were recognized for their work on the Peer Review Board.

Those being honored were Michael Carlson, Washington chief; Terry Hellman, senior staff engineer-technical; Edward Kawa, Massachusetts chief; John Sharier, Ohio chief; Gary Scribner, NBBI assistant executive director-technical; and Michelle Vance, technical assistant.
