Charlie Morecraft to Share Powerful Safety Message

NBBI is pleased to announce that Charlie Morecraft will serve as the keynote speaker for the 94th General Meeting in Denver, Colorado.

Morecraft brings a unique perspective shaped by personal experience. In 1980, Morecraft was a seasoned blue-collar worker at Exxon Corporation, with over 15 years of experience in refinery operations. He was well-versed in safety protocols – but also familiar with the shortcuts.

Confident that nothing could go wrong, Morecraft chose to bypass standard safety procedures during a late-night repair job, eager to finish quickly and start his vacation. That decision led to a devastating explosion that left him with burns covering more than 45% of his body.

Morecraft spent months in the hospital, endured several surgeries, and faced a grueling physical and emotional recovery. But out of that trauma came a mission: to make sure no one else paid the price he paid for a preventable mistake.

Today, his story has reached more than 25,000 companies worldwide, where his vivid, heartfelt message continues to remind workers and leaders alike that safety is not optional – it’s a life-saving choice made every single day.
