Members Honored, JRS Participation Recognized at General Meeting

Dedication to the boiler and pressure vessel industry was celebrated during the 94th General Meeting in Denver as members were recognized for years of service and jurisdictions were acknowledged for joining the growing JRS program.


Membership Service Awards

Several members were recognized with service awards during the Members’ Meeting on May 12. Tommy Granneman (Oklahoma), Aziz Khssassi (Quebec), David Stenrose (Michigan), and Robert Stimson (Kansas) were honored for 10 years of service. Howard Berny (Minnesota), Thomas Maher (Chicago), and Brent Ricks (Montana) were honored for five years of service. Granneman and Ricks were unable to attend.

Granneman, who represents the state of Oklahoma, rejoined the state in 2012 as a boiler inspector. He also served six years in the U.S. Navy and two years in the U.S. Army Reserve.

Khssassi represents the province of Quebec. He joined the province in 2012 and also served in the Canadian Armed Forces as a vehicle technician from 1996 to 2000.

Stenrose joined the state of Michigan in 2010 as a boiler inspector before becoming chief. He also served in the U.S. Navy from 1971 to 1977.

Stimson represents the state of Kansas. He also served in the U.S. Air Force for 17 years, retiring as a master sergeant.

Berny has served in several roles for more than three decades with the state of Minnesota after his stint in the U.S. Navy.

Maher, who represents the city of Chicago, joined the city as a boiler inspector in 2005. He also is a U.S. Army National Guard veteran.

Ricks joined the state of Montana as a program manager in 2004 before being chief boiler inspector.

Awardees received a pin and a certificate. NBBI members are eligible to receive an award upon completion of five years and at the end of every five years thereafter.

JRS Recognition

During the banquet on May 13, Mark Mooney, director of operations-software and services, recognized the chief boiler inspectors from the next set of jurisdictions that have contracted to use the program.

Those recognized were: 

  • Kimberly Adkins (Virginia)
  • Tommy Granneman (Oklahoma)
  • David Pleiss (Nebraska)

Jimmy Watson of Tennessee was also recognized. Tennessee was the first jurisdiction to implement the program but did not have a chief boiler inspector at that time.

Granneman and Pleiss were unable to attend.
