Given, Jenkins Retire; Dautrich New Member
 
 
North Carolina chief and former National Board chairman Jack Given Jr., and Kansas chief and former National Board member at large Donald Jenkins both announced their retirement, effective June 30.
 
Mr. Given served in the US Naval Reserve from 1968 to 1974. Following his exit from the reserve program, he joined the state of North Carolina and worked as a deputy inspector until 1978. He left the state for other opportunities in nuclear work before rejoining North Carolina in 1996. He was named chief in 2003. He served on the National Board’s Board of Trustees as a member at large from April 2008 to September 2010. In October 2010, he was elected chairman to complete the unexpired term of retiring Michigan chief Robert Aben, and in 2011 he was elected chairman for a full term.
 
 
 
 
 
Mr. Jenkins served in the US Navy from 1962 to 1966. Shortly after his discharge, he was employed with the Bureau of Indian Affairs in northern Arizona as a boiler operator. He transferred to the Bureau’s central heating plant in Tuba City, Arizona, where he oversaw the plant’s operation and maintenance. He also served as Tuba City’s fire chief and taught at a Navajo area fire school. In 1982, he became chief boiler inspector for the Bureau of Indian Affairs in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where he pioneered a training school for Native American boiler operators.  Mr. Jenkins served the Bureau of Indian Affairs for 29 years. When the boiler program was eliminated, he accepted the position of chief inspector for the state of Kansas in 1996 and remained in that role until his retirement. Mr. Jenkins served on a variety of ASME subcommittees and NBIC committees, and also served on the National Board’s Board of Trustees as a member at large and 2nd vice chairman.
 
 
Mr. Cliff Dautrich has been named the new bureau chief of North Carolina. Mr. Dautrich’s professional experience includes 17 years with Chevron USA. Additionally, he served as a chemical operator/shift supervisor at Perth Amboy Oil Refinery, and he also worked in design and construction. Mr. Dautrich began his tenure with North Carolina effective July 1.
