The National Board Remembers Tom Monroe

The National Board is saddened to learn of the January 4 passing of former Oklahoma Chief Boiler Inspector and National Board member Thomas “Tom” Monroe. He was 87. Monroe first retired in 1999 after 29 years of service before returning to work for an additional five years for the Oklahoma Labor Department. He served a second term as an NBBI member from 2007 to 2011.

Monroe was born and raised in Oklahoma and served in the US Navy from 1956 to 1958. He attended Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, where he received his bachelor’s degree in accounting.

He is survived by his wife, Judy, two children, five grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
