Rick Sturm Retires as Utah’s Chief Boiler Inspector

Rick Sturm retired on January 15, 2026, as the chief boiler inspector for the state of Utah. He had been an NBBI member since 2008. 

Mr. Sturm also served on the NBBI Board of Trustees, first elected as a member at-large in 2021 before becoming second vice chair in 2023. He was reelected to that position in 2024.

Mr. Sturm worked for the Utah Labor Commission as an inspector for 10 years before becoming chief inspector. Prior to joining the state, he worked as a sheet-metal installer.
