John E. Rimmasch Announced as General Session Speaker

The National Board announces John E. Rimmasch, owner of Wyoming-based Wasatch Railroad Contractors (an ASME/NBIC-certified facility), will address the 88th General Meeting Monday, May 6, 2019, in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Mr. Rimmasch’s presentation, “Celebrating Railroad History, Preserving the Future for All” will highlight the critical and historic events of the completion of the Transcontinental Railroad.

Says Rimmasch: “May 10, 2019, celebrates the 150th anniversary of the wedding of the rails, the laying of the Golden Spike, and the completion of the Transcontinental Railroad connecting East and West by a solid string of steel rail. Not only did this event open the West to the rest of the world, it also began a revolution that, in part, laid the foundation for the establishment of the ASME and NBIC boiler standards of today.”

Mr. Rimmasch has served on ASME committees, most notably the committee that recently re-introduced Section L of the code, otherwise known as the Steam Locomotive Code.
