Costa named to Advisory Committee
Dr. Luca Costa was elected to the Advisory Committee, representing the welding industry, during the Board of Trustees meeting on Aug. 24 in Columbus, Ohio.
Dr. Costa is the CEO of the International Institute of Welding (IIW). He graduated as a mechanical engineer from Genoa University in 1998, served in the Italian Navy from 1999 to 2000, and worked in the Engineering Department for IIS Service in 2000. In 2000, IIS and the International Institute of Welding (IIW) awarded him the International Welding Engineer (IWE) diploma.
Dr. Costa has lectured on welding metallurgy, processes, and quality control and has also been involved in research, technical assistance, certification, and standardization activities. He was responsible for all technical activities of the IIS related to Health and Safety and Environment in welding; he was an active member of the Italian National Standardization Body for Welding (UNI – Commissione Saldature) and was deeply involved in welding research and development projects.
Advisory Committee members may serve two three-year terms.
