86th National Board/ASME General Meeting Theme Announced
SAFETY: If Not Now. When? has been chosen the theme for the 86th National Board/ASME General Meeting, May 8 – 12, 2017, at the Hilton Anchorage and Anchorage Marriott Downtown in Anchorage, Alaska.
“Safety knows no time constraints,” cautions National Board Executive Director David A. Douin. “Nor is it something that can be conveniently delayed. No one can predict catastrophe.”
Mr. Douin emphasizes that, to use the popular vernacular, figuratively adding safety to one’s “bucket list” is a foolish gamble and inconsistent with professional best practices.
“Safety should never be a goal of the future,” he adds “It is here. And now.”
The executive director noted the If Not Now. When? theme simultaneously applies to Anchorage as next year’s General Meeting host city. “For those who have wished for an occasion to visit Alaska, now is the time,” he explains. “This may be the last opportunity for those who have never witnessed Anchorage’s rustic beauty firsthand. It is our hope that a great General Meeting program along with modestly priced sleeping rooms will equal the record attendance registered in 1995.”
Additional information on the 86th National Board/ASME General Meeting will be forthcoming in the winter BULLETIN.
