Salary(s):  IM2 $50,536.00 - $64,380.00 per year

Qualifications:

Successful candidates will be highly motivated and service oriented with a demonstrated ability to work both independently and in a team. Candidates must hold a Power Engineers License or be a Mechanical Engineer. Candidates with a 2nd class or higher Power Engineer License preferred. National Board Commissioned candidates are also desired. Experience in operation and maintenance of boilers and pressure vessels is essential. Knowledge of the Steam and Pressure Plants Act, The Power Engineers Act and accompanying regulations is desired.

 

Excellent oral and written communication and computer skills are essential, as is the ability to analyze and apply knowledge to new situations.

 

This position requires individuals with strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

 

Must be physically able to perform the job.

 

Candidates must be able to travel for emergency response purposes.

 

Use of a personal vehicle and possession of a valid Manitoba driver's license is essential.

 

 

Duties:

Reporting to the Manager of Operations, the incumbent is responsible for conducting inspections in order to ensure that all boilers and pressure vessels installed in the province are safe and conform with the Steam and Pressure Plants Act.  The individual will also be responsible for exercising authority to ensure compliance with requirements specified under the Department of Labour Act, Power Engineers Act, and Gas and Oil Burner Act.
