Arnel Buquis named chief in Arizona; David Sullivan retires as Arkansas chief

The National Board welcomes a new member as another announces his retirement.

On January 23, the NBBI Board of Trustees approved Arnel Buquis as the chief boiler inspector for the state of Arizona Industrial Commission. On January 28, David Sullivan announced his retirement as chief boiler inspector for the state of Arkansas.

Mr. Buquis, who replaced Steve Harder as chief, had served as safety engineer for the city of Los Angeles for since 2015.

Mr. Buquis has the National Board IS Commission and R Endorsement.

Mr. Sullivan had led the Arkansas jurisdiction for five years. He joined the department as a boiler inspector in 2006.

Mr. Sullivan earned a bachelor of science in marine engineering and spent 23 years as a licensed marine engineer on various ships.
