Dennis Eastman Recognized for 25 years of National Board Membership

 

At the October 2 Members’ Meeting in Columbus, Ohio, Mr. Dennis Eastman received a National Board membership award acknowledging his 25 years as a National Board member. Mr. Eastman is the director of engineering and inspection services in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Mr. Eastman attended Memorial University in St. John's, where he received his degree in mechanical engineering. After college, he and a friend formed their own advertising sales company. When his business partner moved to Antarctica, Mr. Eastman sold life insurance while taking courses in business, finance, and marketing.

In 1985, he became a boiler and pressure vessel design review engineer for the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. During this time, Mr. Eastman became familiar with the National Board Commission. He began studying the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code and taking community college welding courses. After passing the National Board Commission examination in 1989, Mr. Eastman became the manager of engineering services.

In 1992, he became the chief inspector. In 2000, Mr. Eastman took a one-year leave of absence, and then returned to his current director’s role for the province of Newfoundland and Labrador.
