The American Society of Mechanical Engineers will hold a virtual ASME Code Week from July 25-30, 2021.

The Boiler Code Week is a forum for business leaders and policymakers to discuss high profile topics related to the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code concerning the design, fabrication, and inspection of boilers, pressure vessels, and nuclear power plant technologies. In other news, Mahantesh Hiremath, Ph.D., P.E., FASME, began his term on June 15 as the association’s 140th president.

An ASME Fellow, Hiremath was a member of the ASME Board of Governors since 2015. He serves as vice president at SC Solutions in Sunnyvale, California. A civil engineering graduate of the College of Engineering, Pune, India, Hiremath earned Master of Science and doctoral degrees in structural dynamics from The Ohio State University and a certificate in systems engineering from Stanford University. Hiremath’s term ends in June 2022.

Karen Ohland has been named ASME’s president-nominee for the 2022-2023 term. An ASME member since 1983, Ohland is the associate director for finance and operations at the Princeton University Art Museum. She served as a member of the ASME Board of Governors from 2016 to 2021.

In addition to Hiremath and Ohland, three new members began their terms on the ASME Board of Governors: Thomas Gardner, Ph.D., P.E., Samuel Korellis, P.E., and Wolf Yeigh, Ph.D.
