Mark Mooney and Jacques Couvillon to Debut New App
at NBBI 89th General Meeting Technical Session
NBBI is pleased to announce National Board JRS directors Jacques Couvillon and Mark Mooney will close the technical session at the 89th General Meeting, Monday, May 10, at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess in Scottsdale, Arizona. Their address, entitled JRS Presents, will introduce a new app to aid in the inspection of pressure-retaining items.
Developed in conjunction with The Ohio State University Capstone Team, the mobile app is a tool for professionals working in the field.
Mr. Mooney has 35 years of industry experience as a boilermaker, operating engineer, inspector, and manager. Mooney was the Massachusetts chief boiler inspector for 12 years before joining Liberty Mutual, where he oversaw the commonwealth’s jurisdictional inspection and licensing program for elevators, amusement devices, boilers, and pressure vessels.
A former member of the National Board’s Board of Trustees from 2001 to 2009, Mooney chaired the National Board Inspection Code Subcommittee on Inspection for many years after. A graduate of Massachusetts Maritime Academy, Mooney maintains a Massachusetts 1st Class engineer’s license, along with a National Board Commission. He has held jurisdictional commissions in 35 states.
Mr. Couvillon is responsible for the creation of an inspection management solution for the boiler and pressure vessel industry in North America.
He spent 16 years as the Director of Regulatory Software for Praeses, a software and IT services company, where he served as the business leader for Jurisdiction Online, a software that supported jurisdictional object workflows (boilers, pressure vessels, amusement rides, elevators, etc.) for state governments and the insurance carriers required to report to them.
Couvillon also served as the Director of Product Management for CentralSquare’s Public Administration Business Unit, where he managed a $22 million software suite supporting municipal government workflows that included products focused on permitting and inspection, finance, asset management, HR, and a citizen portal. With direct profit and loss responsibility, Couvillon spent significant time with clients working to develop relationships in both the government and private sectors.
Greg Goossens to Discuss Jurisdictional Resources, Opportunities at NBBI 89th General Meeting
The National Board (NBBI) is proud to welcome Greg Goossens, NBBI Director of Jurisdictional Affairs, to the 89th General Meeting, Monday, May 10, at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess in Scottsdale, Arizona. His presentation is entitled The Jurisdictional Liaison: Connecting NBBI Members to Key Resources, Initiatives, and Opportunities.
Mr. Goossens’ role as a jurisdictional liaison supports National Board members and connects them to the vast resources of NBBI, in order to achieve greater consistency for safety across jurisdictions.
He has over 40 years of industry experience, including operations, inspections, repairs, and underwriting boiler and machinery exposures. Goossens earned his National Board Commission in 1982 and currently holds an IS Commission with an R Endorsement.
His formal education includes courses in boilers, turbines, combustion and internal engines; and also non-destructive testing technology, welding and metallurgy. Certified as an NDE Level II in several disciplines of NDE, Goossens has facilitated and taught boiler plant seminars and continuing education courses.
